PURPOSE: To obtain the soft contact lens that has optically satisfiable precision and contains water by a high percentage which can not be attained by conventional technique while the strength is high and strain and deficit hardly occur by improving polymer composition and improving a molding method.
CONSTITUTION: The percentage of water content of a lens is ≥68%, the tensile strength is ≥0.1kgf/cm2, and the visible light transmissivity is ≥90% per 0.1mm thickness; and a polymer constituting the lens has cross-linkage structure. Two kinds of mold, i.e. convex and concave molds are used and at least one mold needs to have an interference spherical surface or interference parabolic surface as its mold surface which determines a lens surface. This interference spherical or parabolic surface a projecting spherical or parabolic surface having ≤50μm surface roughness at its principal part, specially, where it corresponds to the lens peripheral part and loses the spheric or parabolic surface at the part. The concave mold and convex mold are so designed preferably as to come not into surface contact, but into linear contact.
