PURPOSE: To obtain the water discharge quantity simply and correctly at the site where a vertical shaft pump is installed by computing the water discharge quantity on the basis of the actual pump lift obtained from the measured water level difference between a water suction drum and a water discharge drum, and the air quantity sucked into the vertical shaft pump.
CONSTITUTION: A vertical shaft pump 12 provided with an intake air pipe 10 is disposed in a water suction drum 20, and a butterfly valve 22, an expansion pipe 24 and a gradually enlarged pipe 26 are connected to the vertical shaft pump 12 in this order and opened into a water discharge drum 28. In this case, the intake air pipe 10 is provided with a means 30 for measuring the air quantity sucked into the vertical shaft pump 12. and the water suction drum 20 is provided with a means 34 for measuring the water level. The water discharge drum 28 is also provided with a means 36 for measuring the water level. A means 32 computes the actual pump head from the measured water level difference and also the water discharge quantity from the actual pump head and the air quantity. A signal corresponding to the computed result is then displayed by a means 38.
