Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a trouble that an intermediate transfer body is turned dirty by dyes in a thermal recording apparatus which uses the intermediate transfer body, records a dying layer with dyes after forming the dying layer to the intermediate transfer body and transfers the dying layer onto a recording paper.
CONSTITUTION: A dying layer 12 is formed to an intermediate transfer body 1 by a thermal head 7, and then the intensity of a reflecting light at the surface of the intermediate transfer body 1 is measured by an optical detecting member 24 thereby to detect whether the dying layer 12 is present or not on the surface of the intermediate transfer body 1. As a result of the detection, if the dying layer is not formed, it is detected as a trouble and subsequent operations are stopped.
