To provide a water-disintegrable cleaning article having a sufficient wet strength to withstand cleaning operation and scarcely causing fuzz and to provide a method for producing the article.
A water-disintegrable paper 100 is obtained by internally adding a water-soluble binder having a carboxyl group and a water-soluble cationic polymer to a papermaking raw material of a wooden pulp and a biodegradable synthetic fiber. In the water-disintegrable paper 100, the amount of the water-soluble binder added is 0.5-20 wt.% based on fiber weight. The water-disintegrable paper 100 has a multiply structure in which two or more single-layer papers 20 are laminated and embossed. The surfaces of the single-layer papers 20 constituting the outermost layers are treated with high-pressure water jet water flow, and impregnated with an aqueous detergent. When the water-disintegrable paper 100 is used as a water-disintegrable cleaning article, fuzz of sheet and falling off of fiber in cleaning are suppressed.
