Title:
WATER-DISINTEGRABLE FIBER SHEET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1150389
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber sheet having a sufficient strength also in a wet state and capable of being easily disintegrated in water, when used and subsequently immersed in a large amount of water, by adding a carboxylic acid salt to a fiber web containing polyvinyl alcohol as a binder. SOLUTION: This water-disintegrable fiber sheet is obtained by adding at least one kind of carboxylic acid salt selected from the group consisting of sodium or potassium tartarate, sodium or potassium citrate and sodium or potassium malate to a fiber web having a basis weight of 20-100 g/m<2> and using polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of 80-92% in an amount of 3-30 g per 100 g of the fiber as a binder. The carboxylate salt is added in an amount of >=1.25 g per 100 g of the fiber and in a polyvinyl alcohol: carboxylate salt weight ratio of (3-30):1.25 or larger.
