Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-dispersible polyisocyanate composition having excellent water-dispersible stability, a long using time because of a slow con sumed rate of its isocyanate groups with water and useful for a coating mate rial, etc., comprising a low-polarity polyisocyanate and a specific emulsifier.
SOLUTION: This water-dispersible polyisocyanate composition is composed of (A) a low-polarity polyisocyanate and (B) an emulsifier in an amount enough to disperse the component A into water and expressed by the formula (R is a 1-4C alkyl; X is a residue of a polyisocyanate compound; Y is a residue after an ≥8C higher alcohol is reacted with an isocyanate; (n) is 3-50; (m) is 0-20; (1) and (p) are each a positive integer). Preferably, the component A is a polyisocyanate obtained by reacting (i) more than one kinds of diisocyanate compounds selected from the group consisting of a 2-15C alkylene diisocyanate, a 6-15C cycloalkylene diisocyanate and a 6-15C aralkylene diisocyanate with (ii) a 10-40C diol in the presence of an isocyanurating catalyst, having an isocyanurating and about a 2.0-4.0 average NCO functional group number.
