Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in an attempt to ameliorate problems of extant biological denitrification methods, a water treatment and a denitrification method and a denitrification material for an effluent having biological implications each safe to environments and aquatic life by reducing the nitrogen concentration within the effluent via a method and an apparatus having high precision and inexpensive.SOLUTION: The problem-solving means of this invention creates an oxygen-deprived state within a body of water by adsorbing or concentrating, by using a special contact material, nitrogen oxides being homogeneously distributed at relatively low concentrations onto or atop the contact material surface within the water and accelerates a denitrification function by enhancing the activity of facultative anaerobic microbes. In this way, creating the substantially oxygen-deprived state by partially and highly concentrating, by using the special contact material, nitrogen oxides being homogeneously distributed at relatively low concentrations onto the contact material surface, can reduce an oxygen concentration in water and enhance the activity of the facultative anaerobic microbes so that a nitride concentration can be lowered.
