Title:
WATER DROP SCATTERING PREVENTER FOR CROSS FLOW COOLING TOWER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3291459
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the cooling water from being discharged into the atmosphere along with the cooling air without increasing the capacity of a fan by arranging a sheet-like fibrous eliminator having porosity on the upper surface of an uppermost filler.
SOLUTION: A sheet-like woven or nonwoven fibrous eliminator 8 having porosity is arranged on the upper surface of an uppermost filler 7 in a cross flow cooling tower. When the cooling air subjected to heat exchange through the filler 7 passes through the eliminator 8, cooling water contained in the cooling air is captured by the eliminator 8 and prevented from being discharged into the atmosphere. Furthermore, a drainage trough 14 is arranged along the bottom face of the eliminator 8 on the inner end side of the cooling tower 2 and coupled with the overflow pipe of a water collection tank. The cooling water captured by the eliminator 8 is not circulated back to the load side along with the cooling water passed through the filler 7 but drained to the outside of the cooling tower.
