PURPOSE: To obtain a water-feeding mat effective for saving the labor of water- feeding work in the production of a potted plant and enabling the production of potted plant having stable quality by laminating a water-retaining layer and a water-absorbing layer each composed of a web having respective specific constitution.
CONSTITUTION: The objective water-feeding mat is produced by laminating (A) a water-retaining layer consisting of a web having a water-retention of ≥200%, three-dimensionally interlocked by needling and composed of thermoplastic synthetic fibers having a single fiber fineness of 3-7 denier and (B) a water-absorbing layer consisting of a smooth-surface web having a water- absorption of ≥50mm measured by Birek method, an air-passability of ≤100cm3/ cm2/s and composed of thermoplastic synthetic fibers having a single fiber fineness of 0.5-3 denier. The lamination of the layers A and B is carried out e.g. by scattering powder of a low-melting polymer on the layer A, placing the layer B thereon and hot-pressing with a hot roll.
