To provide a water heater with improved usability and reduced energy consumption.
The water heater comprises a bathtub 5, a bath heating means 6 for heating hot water in the bathtub 5, bath circulation circuits (61, 62, 63, 64) connecting the bath heating means 6 and the bathtub 5, an inside-bathtub temperature detection means 67 for detecting temperature of the hot water in the bathtub 5, a human detection means 93 for detecting a human in a bathroom, and a control means 94. When the human detection means 93 detects a human, reheating operation is started by the bath heating means 6 before the inside-bathtub temperature detection means 67 detects the hot water temperature of the bathtub 5. When the human detection means 93 does not detect a human, the reheating operation is started by the bath heating means 6 after the inside-bathtub temperature detection means 67 detects the hot water temperature of the bathtub 5.
