Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of positively realizing a detection of trouble at a high temperature avoidance valve without applying any influence against water heating temperature during water heating operation.SOLUTION: Hot water and cold water can be mixed through a high temperature avoidance valve 252 in respect to a hot water supply passage 241 at a downstream side position of a hot water mixing part 27 for mixing hot water in a hot water storage tank 21 with water got from a water supply passage 232 under prescribed ratio. There are provided a water discharging passage 261 branched from the hot water supply passage 241 at a more downstream side position than the water mixing position and continuous to a water discharging port 7, a water discharging solenoid valve 263 and a flow rate detecting sensor 262. Both hot water side flow rate adjustment valve 242 and cold water side flow rate adjustment valve 233 are fully closed and the high temperature avoidance valve 252 and the water discharging solenoid valve 263 are controlled to be changed over to opened states to monitor a flow rate detecting value of the flow rate detecting sensor. When the prescribed flow rate is detected, it is judged that the high temperature avoidance valve 252 is normal and if it is not detected, it is judged that the valve is troubled under closed and fixed states.
