To provide a water-impervious sheet having a high water-impervious effect to resist leakage and seepage from bedrock layers, stratum layers, the wall surfaces, etc. of buildings, houses, tanks, water reservoirs, and other structures; having a high adhesive property with respect to waterproof materials such as hydraulic materials, asphalt, resins, etc. to form no voids between a waterproof material layer and the water-impervious sheet; preventing separation and drop of the waterproof material from the water-impervious sheet; capable of safely and stably retaining high water imperviousness over a long period; having appropriate flexibility; and being excellent in handleability and workability during construction work for imparting water imperviousness and to provide a construction method for imparting water imperviousness.
This construction method for imparting water imperviousness uses a water-impervious sheet formed by an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer sheet containing 30 to 90 wt.% vinyl acetate and having a reinforcing layer and/or a draining layer on the back of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer sheet containing 30 to 90 wt.% vinyl acetate and serving as a surface layer.
