To provide a water intake method for ocean deep water that can adjust temperature-rising to the water temperature at a discharge port required according to utilization purposes of ocean deep water in taking deep water with a low temperature using an intake pipe.
This water intake method for ocean deep water uses an intake pipe having good thermal conductivity as an intake pipe 1 of ocean deep water extended from an intake pump 2 to the depth at which deep water is taken, and raises the temperature of deep water with a low temperature within the pipe by the thermal conductivity from surface layer water outside the pipe by controlling the flow velocity within the pipe 1 according to a water temperature at a discharge port 3a required. The flow velocity within the pipe 1 is calculated from a thermal conductivity calculation formula in which a water temperature at an intake port 3, a water temperature at the discharge port 3a, the thermal conductive characteristic of the pipe 1, the pipe diameter, the extension distance and an ocean water temperature. A metal pipe or a metal pipe with corrosion-proof coating is used for the pipe 1 with good thermal conductivity.
