Title:
WATER-JET INTRODUCTION TYPE STEERING CYLINDER APPARATUS FOR SHIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3064078
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a water-jet introduction type steering cylinder apparatus for ship which is so arranged as to cause a neutral condition to be stably maintained and minimize the navigation resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A steering cylinder 2 is so disposed, at the back of a propelling water- jet injection nozzle 1 provided at a stern, as to permit introduction thereinto of a water jet from the injection nozzle 1, the steering cylinder being thereby made able to be rotate to the right and to the left. A horizontal operating shaft 4 which is rotated by a hydraulic device 3 is laterally provided in the vicinity of a bottom rear portion of the steering cylinder 2. On the other hand, a plurality of flow conversion plates 6 enabling a conversion in flow of the water jet to the forward direction are provided in a steering-cylinder bottom opening formed between the operating shaft 4 and a bottom portion of the steering cylinder 2 near a front end thereof. A flap 5 capable of closing the channels formed between the flow conversion plates 6 in a substantially laid condition is mounted to the operating shaft 4. Through control of the rocking motion of the flap 5, change-over between the forward and backward movements of a hull can smoothly be performed, thus enabling retention of the hull at a neutral condition and reduction in the navigation resistance.
