An intake portion which is below an impeller 5 of this water jet propeller has a lip portion 4 at the bottom thereof which extends to the bow. The lip portion 4 is structured such that a tip 4a thereof is shaped to have an obtuse corner. It is also structured such that a protrusion amount from below the impeller 5 of the lip portion 4 to the bow is small so that a distance La on an intake upper wall surface 3a is made larger. The distance is between an end 7 closer to the bow of a water suction port 2 and a point 6 where a virtual perpendicular H extending from the tip 4a of the lip portion 4 to the upper wall surface 3a crosses the upper wall surface 3a.
