Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce hull resistance at the time of full-speed travel and prevent the generation of cavitation at the time of sudden acceleration with simple structure.
CONSTITUTION: A water jet propulsion device has an engine mounted in a hull 11, and a water jet duct 17 disposed at the rear part of the hull 11 and provided with an impeller 19. The impeller 19 is rotatory-driven by the engine to form jet in the water jet duct 17. The water jet propulsion device of such constitution has a water conveying main duct 18 disposed in the hull 11 being communicated with the water jet duct 17 and provided with a main suction port 21, and a water conveying sub-duct 27 communicated with the main duct 18 and provided with a sub-suction port 28; and the sub-suction port 28 is set into a higher position than the main suction port 21.
