Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the hardening cracks at the end face of a pin for a track assembly and to improve its static bending strength, fatigue strength or the like by executing induction hardening to a pin constituted of a medium carbon low alloy steel worked into prescribed surface roughness and specifying the ratio of the depth (t) of an effective hardened layer to the radius (R). CONSTITUTION:A pin for a track assembly constituted of a medium carbon low alloy steel is worked into <=10mum surface roughness. This pin is subjected to hardening by high frequency induction heating and cooling to regulate t/R to 0.35 to 0.5 (where R denotes the radius and (t) denotes the depth of the effective hardened layer with >=80% martensitic hardness). After that, the pin is tempered, by which the pin for a track assembly in which the structure of the central part is constituted of an untransformed one and having a black skin with <=16mum surface roughness can be obtd.
