PURPOSE: To obtain a water repellent having the surface water repellence, comprising an alkyltrialkoxysilane, a water-soluble soluble coupling agent, an amino resin, a quaternary ammonium siliane and water.
CONSTITUTION: The object composition contains a product combining (A) an alkyltrialkoxysilane with 1-6C alkyl groups on silicon (preferably methyl trimethoxysilane, and the like) or blends of alkyltrialkoxysilanes with 1-6C alkyl groups on silicon, (B) a water-soluble silane coupling agent (preferably N-(2-amino ethyl)-3-amino propel trimethoxysilane) or a hydrolyzed product thereof, (C) an amino resin (preferably a water-soluble urea-formaldehyde resin), (D) a compound represented by formulae I to IV, (wherein Y denotes an R0 (R is a 1-4C alkyl); a denotes 0 to 2; R' denotes methyl or ethyl; R" denotes a 1-4C alkylene; R"', R"" and RV each denote a 1-12C alkyl, -CH2C6H5, or the like; X denotes Cl, Br, or the like; and Z denotes a cationic aromatic pyridinium ring of C5H6N+), and (E) water.
