Abstract:
To provide a water-repellent insulator capable of maintaining semi-permanently excellent electric insulation characteristics even when the insulator is not cleaned.SOLUTION: In the water-repellent insulator, a water-repellent glaze layer 7 is formed on a surface of an insulator body 1 made of porcelain, the water-repellent glaze layer 7 contains a charge transfer type catalyst in the glaze layer, and the charge transfer type catalyst is composed of a composite oxide crystal of an electron-donating element, an electron-accepting element, an electron carrier element which promotes electron transfer to the electron-accepting element from the electron-donating element, a reduction center element which performs a reduction reaction by the electrons transferred to the electron-accepting element, and an oxidation center element which performs an oxidation reaction by a positive hole generated by the electron transfer. In the water-repellent insulator, a water-repellent glaze layer is annular formed on a surface of a hydrophilic glaze layer glazed to the surface of the insulator 1 made of porcelain.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
