To produce a water repellent reticulate material having both waterproofness and air permeability and capable of supposing the application to various kinds of sundries and products by carrying out a water repellent coating of a reticulate material comprising many holes having a specific opening length formed side by side.
This reticulate material is produced by carrying out a water repellent coating of a reticulate material comprising many holes having 1 μm to 1.5 mm opening length and two-dimensionally formed side by side, preferably according to a dipping method using a water repellent coating material containing glass beads or polytetrafluoroethylene beads as a water repellent powder. Furthermore, when the glass beads are used as the water repellent powder in the dipping method, the solid content of the water repellent coating material is preferably 5-30 wt.% and the specific gravity of a solvent such as heptane is preferably 0.6-1.6.
