To provide a catalyst the specific surface area of which is enlarged while keeping a distance between adjacent perovskite type compound oxides constituting the catalyst to improve the adsorption ratio of NOx etc. thereon and to provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas and methods for manufacturing the catalyst and the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas.
The catalyst 1 is composed of the perovskite type compound oxide 2 shown by general formula: A1-xA'xB1-yB'yO3- (wherein A is at least one element selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth metals; A' is at least one element selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements; B is at least one element selected from the group consisting of transition elements; B' is at least one element selected from the group consisting of metallic elements; 0x1; 0y1; 01.5) and compound oxide spacers 3 (3a-3e) and has 20 m2/g specific surface area when calculated by a BET method.
