Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a composition having excellent water resistance against hot water as well as against cold water even when dried and heat-treated at relatively low temperatures, and suitable for inorganic or organic adhesives, binders, etc., by compounding a specific polyvinyl alcohol resin and a polysaccharide. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyvinyl alcohol resin having a saponification degree of >=50mol%, preferably 70-100mol%, and prepared by the saponification of a polymer of the formula (R<1> is H, hydrocarbon; R<2>, R<3> are hydrocarbon; preferably R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are methyl) is compounded with (B) a polysaccharide (e.g. starch) in an A/B weight ratio of 99/1-1/99, preferably 60/40-5/95, to provide the objective water-resistant composition.
