Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starch composition which possesses excellent biodegradability inherent in starch and can form a water-resistant hardened product by heating, and a water-resistant starch foam.
SOLUTION: The starch composition which can form a water-resistant hardened product by heating is composed of a uniform mixture comprising (a) starch, (b) an alkenylsuccinic anhydride represented by formula (1), (c) a wax, and (d) a water resistant auxiliary selected from the group consisting of natural resins, hydrocarbon resins, natural fats and oils, celluloses, and dietary fibers. Specifically the starch composition comprises a water resistant auxiliary to be selected from the group consisting of natural resins, natural fats and oils, celluloses, and dietary fibers.
