To provide a water retaining container for packing cut flowers, which is good in appearance and easy to produce, and to provide a method of producing the container.
The water retaining container 10 for packing cut flowers is formed of a support plate 12 having a cut flower insertion hole 11 formed therein, and a water retaining bag 13 for cut flowers, which is fixed onto a rear side of the support plate 12 at a location corresponding to the cut flower insertion hole 11. At least a front surface of the water retaining bag 13 for cut flowers is formed of a thermoplastic resin. Further the support plate 12 is formed of a flat support plate main body 14, and a resin sheet 16 stuck to a front surface of the main body and having a heat-sealing margin 20 which is integrally formed with the resin sheet and overhangs inside the cut flower insertion hole 11. Then the heat-sealing margin 20 and an opening edge of the water retaining bag 13 for cut flowers are heat-sealed to each other.
