Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform water softening treatment with low power consumption, supply treatment water not containing gas, secure safety of an apparatus and improve treatment speed with low pressure loss.SOLUTION: A water softener includes: a pair of electrodes 153; and a laminate sheet 158 comprising water decomposition ion exchange membrane 154 having a cation exchange surface 155 and an anion exchange surface 156 and a sintered porous body sheet 157 containing a cation exchange resin 159 and a plastic resin 161. The laminate sheet 158 is disposed between the electrodes 153 so that the water decomposition ion exchange membrane 154 is arranged where the anion exchange surface 156 opposes the anode side of the electrode 153. The sintered porous body sheet 157 is a porous body having continuous pores and thus ion components in raw water are easily diffused inside the sheet and effectively ion-exchanged with the cation exchange resin 159.
