The water softening unit 1 has the water softener 10 and a regenerating salt water supply device 11, and hot water supply is carried out using water which has passed through the water softener 10. Regeneration of the water softener 10 is carried out by refilling the salt water supply device 11 with water to make salt water, supplying the salt water from the salt water supply device 11 to the water softener 10, and then washing the water softener 10 by supplying water to discharge the salt water. When the hot water supply is required during the regeneration of the water softener 10, the interruption process for stopping production and supply of the salt water to make the water softener 10 usable is performed.
