Abstract:
To obtain the subject resin useful as a raw material for an epoxy resin, etc., simply economically and industrially, by sulfonating a specific aromatic amine resin.
This resin is shown by formula I (R is H, a halogen, a hydroxyl group, amino, an alkyl or the like; A is phenylene, diphenylene, diphenyl ether or the like; M is H, lithium, Na, K or the like; (m) is 1 or 2; (n) is 0-300; (x), (y) and (z) are each 0 or 1 with the proviso that x+y+z>0). The resin is obtained by sulfonating an aromatic amine resin of formula II by using sulfuric acid as a sulfonating agent at 100-250°C for 1-40 hours.
