Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow dye (compound) which has high solubility in water, also has excellent various fastness properties including water resistance, moisture resistance, ozone gas resistance, scratch resistance and light resistance, and is superior particularly in color-developing properties (printing density) and color saturation, and a yellow ink composition for various recording purposes, particularly inkjet recording purposes, which contains the yellow dye.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a water-soluble azo compound represented by formula (1) or a salt thereof. In the formula, Q represents a halogen atom; x represents an integer of 2 to 4; R represents a C1-C4 alkyl group, a hydroxy C1-C4 alkyl group, a carboxy C1-C4 alkyl group, a C1-C4 alkylthio C1-C4 alkyl group, a phenylmethyl group, a sulfo-substituted phenylmethyl group, a phenyl group, or a sulfo-substituted phenyl group.
