PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) that has high water solubility, and also has excellent fastness including water resistance, moisture resistance, ozone gas resistance, scratch resistance and light resistance (among them, light resistance is particularly excellent); a yellow ink composition for various types of recordings, particularly for an inkjet recording, comprising the same; and a colored body colored by the ink composition.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a water-soluble azo compound represented by the formula (1) or a salt thereof (where Q is a halogen atom, x is an integer of 2 to 4, and R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group).SELECTED DRAWING: None
