To obtain a cationic polymer suitably usable for various kinds of applications such as coating materials, inks, coating agents, adhesives and various kinds of processing agents due to water solubility and excellence in heat and water resistances.
This water-soluble cationic polymer comprises 1-100 mol% of a structural unit represented by general formula (1) (wherein A denotes a 3-8C linear alkylene group or a 4-8C alkoxymethylene group; R1, R2 and R3 denote each hydrogen atom or a saturated or an unsaturated hydrocarbon group which may be substituted by an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or amino group or two or three of the R1/R2 and R3, together with the nitrogen atom to which the R1, R2 and R3 are bonded, denote a saturated or an unsaturated ring containing one or more heteroatoms; X denotes a counterion coordinated with the ammonium group; and the ring a may further be substituted or condensed with other aromatic rings).
