Abstract:
To provide a water-soluble heat treating liquid used for the hardening of a metal, excellent in the prevention of cracking in hardening, and hardening properties, having a long life, and excellent in the ease of waste liquor disposal.
The heat treating liquid used comprises an aqueous solution of a water-soluble compound obtained by esterifying a part of the carboxy groups of a maleimized polymer and converting the remaining carboxy groups into an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt.
