Abstract:
To obtain a high-molecular weight water-soluble polymer particle having a high content of a sulfonic acid group-containing monomer or its salt in a constituent monomer component and to provide a method for producing the same.
The water-soluble polymer particle having ≥4,000,000 average molecular weight and 20-2,000 μm average particle diameter is obtained by a reversed phase suspension polymerization method using an aqueous solution of a monomer having the ratio of a sulfonic acid group-containing monomer or its salt in the whole monomers of 60-100 mol%, a hydrophobic dispersion medium and an azo-based radical polymerization initiator.
