Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a stabilized polyacetal composition having excellent UV stability without detriment to melt processing stability by adding a sterically hindered amine light stabilizer to a polyacetal homopolymer.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a stabilized polyacetal composition comprising 95-99.95 wt.% polyacetal homopolymer (A) and 0.05-5 wt.% (A+B=100 wt.%) amine light stabilizer (B) containing a piperidine ring or oxopiperazinyl ring containing a sterically hindering phenolic group and a sterically hindering amine group and selected from form formulas I and II (wherein X is formula III or formula IV; A is a 1-6C alkyl; Y is formula V or formula VI; R is a 1-6C alkyl; and R' is H or a 1-6C alkyl), or a stabilized polyacetal composition comprising 95-99.9 wt.% component A, 0.05-2.5 wt.% component B and 0.05-2.5 wt.% (A+B+C=100 wt.%) sterically hindered amine light stabilizer (C) selected from groups VII to IX (wherein R" is formula X; Z is formula XI; and A is H or a 1-6C alkyl).
