To obtain a hydrocarbon-based water substitution type detergent composition and detergent composition for particle removal with which water and a water-soluble stain stuck to the surface of metal, a processing oil, particle of metal cutting waste, resin burr waste, polishing waste, solder waste, ceramic waste, etc., a polar substance such as water, oil and fat surfactant, etc., a protein-containing oil and fat stain from the human body stuck to the surface of parts are efficiently removed and a surfactant is not precipitated even at a low temperature.

This detergent composition comprise a hydrocarbon-based solvent, (a) a fatty acid alkanolamide, (b) an N-alkylpolyalkylenediamine fatty acid salt represented by the general formula: R1-NH(R2)nNH2.2R3-COOH (R1 is a 7-22C alkyl group; R2 is a 1-4C alkylene group; R3 is a 7-22C alkyl or alkenyl group, n is 1-6) and (c) an alcohol or glycol monoether represented by the general formula; R4-(OR5)m-OH (R4 is a 1-8C alkyl group; R5 is a 2-5C alkylene group; m is 0-3).
