To provide a water supply device which prevents the occurrence of water hammer when a pump is started for the first time after the water supply device is stopped for a long period.
This water supply device 1 includes: the pump P; a motor M driving the pump P; and a control unit 35 which starts the pump P when a discharge pressure is equal to or lower than a predetermined starting pressure and which gives the rotational speed command of the pump P to an inverter 20. In the control section 35, when the discharge pressure is equal to or lower than the starting pressure, it is determined whether or not the pump P is started for the first time after power is applied to the water supply device 1. If it is not the first starting of the pump P after the power is applied to the water supply device 1, normal start operation is performed. If it is the first starting of the pump P after the power is applied to the water supply device 1, protective start operation with a slower discharge pressure rise than the normal start operation is performed.
