Abstract:

To provide an economical and effective water treatment agent for removing a boron and fluorine contained in a drain, as well as a water treatment method.

This water treatment agent is used which contains quicklime, slaked lime and aluminum sulfate, and further, may contain an iron compound as one congenial to the former. When treating the drained water containing the noxious substance such as boron, or fluorine the pH value is controlled to 9.0 to 13.0 when discharging the drain containing the boron and to 5.0 to 12.0 when discharging the drain containing the fluorine, and the pH value is controlled to 9.0 to 13.0 when discharging the drain containing both boron and fluorine. Thereafter, the quicklime is pulverized or made into slurry with not more than 20 mass% and then this powder or slurry is added to the drain and the noxious substance is flocculated and the flocculate is separated.
