Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a water treatment material in which bacteria and protozoa can actively grow and which has a remarkable buffer action of pH in water and to provide a manufacturing method suitable for obtaining the water treatment material which demonstrates its effects.
CONSTITUTION: A water treatment material 1, which is a molded article containing at least wollastonite and anorthite, has two kinds of pores 4 having larger diameters of 50-1000μm and smaller diameters of 0.1-10μm respecticely, The material 1 is obtained by a process in which a mixture of calcium silicate hydrate, clay containing aluminum, and a pore-making agent is kneaded and molded, and the molded product is burned at 950-1200°C.
