Title:
WATERCRAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3274525
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To trim, steer and brake a watercraft by providing a first means capable of retracting a flap into a compartment into a retracted position wherein the flap does not act as a hydrofoil, and a second means making the flap act as a brake in its substantially fully lowered position.
CONSTITUTION: Uneven extension and/or angular adjustment of the flap 26 on one side 22 can trim a boat or ship to compensate for uneven distribution of weight on the boat or ship. The flap 26 on one side of a hull 20 can be used for steering, either by itself or in conjunction with a conventional steering mechanism. Even extension and angular positioning of the flaps 26 on both sides of the hull 20 can also accomplish 'trimming', to compensate for weight distribution in the fore and aft direction, or to cause the boat to ride differently.
