PURPOSE: To improve mechanical and waterproof characteristics without losing workability and working environment by roughly winding or butt-winding a water absorbing string jute or tape around the outer periphery of a tensile strength body.
CONSTITUTION: The water absorbing string or jute 6 is roughly wound around the outer periphery of the tensile strength body 1. Or, the water absorbing tape 7 is wound around the outer periphery so as to butting into each other. Although it is preferable to butt-winding the tape 7 around the outer periphery based on mechanical characteristics, the diameter of the tensile strength body 1 is automatically determined by the restriction of the tape width. In case of adopting the hydrotaxis preventing property with priority, the water absorbing string or jute 6 is roughly wound around the outer periphery with short pitches in the reverse direction to the twisting direction of an optical fiber core or optical fiber cable unit 2 concentrated into the tensile strength body 1 so as to be frequency superposed to the optical fiber core or optical cable unit 2. In case of adopting the mechanical characteristics with priority, the water absorbing string or jute 6 is roughly wound around the outer periphery of the tensile strength body 1 with the same pitch in the same direction as the twisting direction of the optical fiber core or the optical cable unit 2. Said constitution makes it possible to improve waterproof characteristics.
