To obtain a watertight polyethylene insulated wire capable of newly using by making use of an insulator 3 of the used watertight polyethylene insulated wire P.
In the watertight polyethylene insulated wire P, an electrically-insulated watertight material 12 made of a thermoplastic resin such as an EEA is filled up between each strand of a conductor 11 consisting of a plurality of strands 11a wherein a surface treating agent made of benzotriazol and an epoxy plasticizer is coated, and collected and modified recycled polyethylene 13 is coated on an outer peripheral surface of the conductor. A rainwater entry preventing property between respective strands can be ensured even though a hard resin is adopted as a watertight material so that adhesion between each strand and the watertight material is increased by surface treatment and a rate of a watertight property (rainwater entry preventing property) between respective strands depending on viscoelasticity of the watertight material decreases. The hard watertight material can restrain co-rotation of the insulator when peeling-off of its skin since the hard watertight material has an effect for compensating reduction of rigidity of the collected and modified recycled polyethylene.
