PURPOSE: To improve the service life of a grinding tool, and to grind the cam surface of a wave cam with high machining precision by suppressing the change in the grinding resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A clearance groove 27 formed on the inner circumferential side of a cam surface 20A at the position corresponding to the bottom dead center is displaced to the outer circumferential side, and a clearance groove 28 to further extend from the clearance groove 27 to the outer circumferential side is formed. The width V2 of the cam surface 20A at the highest position 20A22 (position corresponding to the bottom dead center) is narrower than the width V1 of the cam surface 20A at the highest position 20A11 (position corresponding to the top dead center).
