Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable to navigate over a wave dissipating device by causing the device to be entirely submerged in the sea when waves are low, to enable the device to exhibit its wave dissipating action by causing the device to become an appropriately tilted barricade at the surface of the sea when waves are high, and to simplify the structure therefor.
CONSTITUTION: A base 3 is installed in the sea and is provided with a wave dissipating plate 5 in such a manner that one end of the plate 5 freely turns so that when the plate is tilted the other end appears at the surface of the sea. The wave dissipating plate 5 is provided with a pumping and drainage chamber 6 to vary its buoyancy, and one end of the wave dissipating plate 5 is anchored to the base 3 by means of a chain 7.
