PURPOSE: To raise the wave breaking effect of a wave dissipation revetment by providing a retarding chamber provided with plural horizontal plates having upper and lower openings on the wave-facing side of a single block type vertical breakwater body to be used for artificial revetment.
CONSTITUTION: An upper opening 6 and a lower opening 7 are provided in a wave-facing wall 5 and a plate 10 reinforced with a wire and covered with an elastic material, e.g., rubber, etc., is horizontally attached to the openings in order to make up of a retarding chamber 2. Such a retarding chamber 2 and ballast chambers 3 and 4 are formed in a concrete body 1, and the concrete body 1 is horizontally sunk. Ballast is charged through charging ports 8 and 9 into the ballast chambers 3 and 4 to stabilize the concrete body 1 on a set base plate 13. The wave of sea water coming toward the upper opening 6 is changed toward the horizontal direction by the plate 10, directed into the retarding chamber 2, and then discharged again to the sea from the lower opening 7. Thus, most of the wave energy of the sea water is consumed in the part and also the movement of the wave is broken from vertical direction to horizontal direction, increasing the wave-breaking effect of the wave dissipation revetment A.
