Abstract:

To provide a wave height and wave direction estimating method of an incident wave, accurately estimating wave height and wave direction of the incident wave, in a state where an automatic navigation route holding control for holding navigation route on an instructed navigation route and/or a ship position holding control for holding a hull at an instructed position are/is being carried out.

In the wave height and wave direction estimating method of the incident wave with use in the automatic navigation route and/or ship position holding controlling method for holding a navigation route during navigation and/or holding a ship position while a ship is stopped, relative water levels of the hull at more than three points separate from each other are measured S101, so as to estimate the wave height S103 and the wave direction S105 of the incident wave from the measured values of the relative water levels.
