To provide a wave motion transmission type moving device which is simple in structure and control and is excellent in durability.

A wave motion transmission type moving device moves forward on a traveling surface by directly or indirectly bringing the back surface of a flexible plate into contact with the traveling surface, bending the rear end region of the plate to form a curved part separated from the traveling surface, and transferring the curved part forward to be caused to disappear in the front end region of the plate. The wave motion transmission type moving device comprises: a shaft which extends in the front-back direction on the upper surface side of the plate, is rotatably supported by a device body, and has a helical track on the outer peripheral surface thereof; rotating means for rotating the shaft; and curving means for curving the plate along the track of the shaft. At least one of the front end part and the rear end part of the plate can be moved up and down relatively to the device body so as to absorb the amplitude of wave motion.
