Abstract:

To provide a waveguide that is able to achieve a smaller size and lower loss than conventional waveguides.

A waveguide (1) is provided that comprises a waveguide base substance (10) which is made from hard dielectric such as, for example, pure quartz, quartz compound, alumina, or ceramic, and which extends in the propagation direction of an electromagnetic wave, and a metal coating layer (20) formed on the surface of the waveguide base substance (10).
