To provide a wavelength conversion device which highly efficiently converts a wavelength with a simple construction.
A light beam with an optical frequency f1 and a continuous light beam with an optical frequency f2 multiplexed and outputted from 3dB optical coupler 131 are inputted to one end of an optical fiber 132 and wave-guided to the other end thereof. Due to a nonlinear optical phenomenon generated accompanied with waveguide of the light beams, a light beam with an optical frequency f3 is generated on the optical fiber 132. Optical power of the continuous light beam with the optical frequency f2 inputted to the optical fiber 132 is less than that of the light beam with the optical frequency f1 inputted thereto. The light beam with the optical frequency f1 is used as an exciting light beam for developing the nonlinear optical phenomenon on the optical fiber 132. The optical frequency f3 of the light beam generated on the optical fiber 132 is expressed by an equation f3=2f1-f2.
