Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wavelength conversion particles, with which incident efficiency of light on phosphor particles and extraction efficiency of irradiation light from the phosphor particles are further improved, and of which the moisture proofness is improved.SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion particle includes a phosphor particle containing an alkaline-earth metal, and a coating film which covers the surface of the phosphor particle and which contains at least one selected from a group of a sulfate, a borate, and a titanate of alkaline-earth metals as a main component. Thereby incident efficiency of light on the phosphor particles and extraction efficiency of light from the phosphor particles are improved by suppressing reflection of light on boundaries between the coating film and the phosphor particle and the coating film and a light transmitting medium. Furthermore, degradation of the phosphor is suppressed by preventing contact of the phosphor with moisture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
