To provide a wavelength converter which is provided with monolithically integrated delay loops existing in a delay interference constitution having only a solitary SOA(semiconductor optical amplifier).
This wavelength converter is different from the conventional hybrid wavelength converter and has monolithically integrated delay loops which use an asymmetric separation coupler 130.
