To provide a wavelength-scanning laser light source capable of rapidly and continuously scanning the wavelength of a light source having a narrow band spectrum in a wide band, and of reducing the number of required optical isolators.
This wavelength-scanning light source comprises a wide band light source 11, and a wavelength-variable filter part 12 extracting light of a desired wavelength band from wide band light emitted from the wide band light source 11. The wavelength-variable filter part 12 is provided with two Fabry-Perot electro-optic modulators composed by incorporating electro-optic crystals in Fabry-Perot resonators 13A and 13B in spaces having FSRs adjacent to each other and arranged in an outgoing light optical path of light emitted from the wide band light source 11, and a resonator length control part 15 periodically changing the resonator lengths of the two Fabry-Perot resonators having the FSRs adjacent to each other. Passing light is optically modulated by a periodical scanning signal provided by the resonator length control part 15 by at least either of the two Fabry-Perot electro-optic modulators.
